Chicago Plans for a Safer City in 2040


chicago_police_car_horizCities can not rely solely on the police to improve public safety, according to a new report which examines root causes of crime in order to create a template for solving criminal justice issues in the future. The Crime and Justice Planning Initiative of “Go to 2040,” a multidisciplinary series of studies commissioned by Chicago Community Trust, provides statistics on poverty, crime and abuse, and mines issues including fairness in law enforcement and community engagement in crime prevention to provide alternatives to the “punitive, zero-tolerance strategies” of the past.
