New Stats on Gun Purchases


08.04.09gunshowThe Bureau of Justice Statistics just released statistics for the 9.9 million applications for firearm transfers in 2008. Among the findings, BJS reports that approximately 1.5 percent of applications were denied last year, down from a high of 2.4 percent in 1999. The number one reason for denial was a felony conviction or indictment; number two was a domestic violence conviction or retraining order.
