07.07.09More than $61 million was taken from banks in 2008, down just slightly from the year before, according to new statistics from the FBI. Branch offices in metropolitan commercial centers were the most frequent targets, and perpetrators used oral or written demands most often. Though the FBI recorded 6,849 violations, violence occurred in just four percent of the crimes: 21 people died, 17 of them perps. Armored cars lost $9.6 million.
