New DOJ data: Arrest-related deaths


6.17.09dojstatsThe Department of Justice has just released statistics on arrest-related deaths in 2003-2006. The total number of arrest-related deaths jumped 12 percent (from 627 to 710), with the great majority being the result of homicide by law enforcement officer, followed by suicide and alcohol/drug intoxication.
