The Donald W. Reynolds National Center for the Courts and Media was formed to foster discussion about free press-fair trial issues. It provides a neutral forum for discussion about the ways that the courts and the media can work together more constructively, including periodic courses for journalists and judges on court-media issues. The center's director is Gary A. Hengstler, a career legal journalist and licensed lawyer. The center was set up in the National Judicial College; as of 2008, it was operating within the Donald W. Reynolds School of Journalism. Both institutions are at the University of Nevada, Reno. The center has been funded largely by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation of Las Vegas.
