Expertise: Police corruption in the war on drugs, law enforcement in general. McNamara has 35 years of law enforcement experience, with stints as a beat cop in Harlem, deputy inspector in the NYPD, police chief of Kansas City, Mo., and chief of police in San Jose, Calif. In 1980, he was appointed to the advisory board of the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Has done consulting work for the U.S. Department of Justice and FBI, among others. He is completing a book on U.S. police corruption in the drug war.
