Center for Personal Protection and Safety

Spokane, Wash.

Randy Spivey, executive director
(509) 624-6659

This firm, which specializes in personal safety training for travelers, produced an instructional video, “Shots Fired–When Lightning Strikes,” that provides “critical guidance on how to recognize and survive an active shooter” in workplace or school shootings. The firm says, “While organizations and law enforcement agencies have revamped their prevention and response strategies to address this critical issue, history shows that the immediate action of people on the scene is the most effective way to minimize or stop the violence. The key to survival is a proactive mindset.” Spivey is a former U.S. Department of Defense hostage negotiator, and he said the center includes retired FBI agents and others with federal law enforcement experience.
