The CDC, part of the federal Department of Health and Human Services, compiles and analyzes a vast pool of information on intimate partner violence at its Website. The CDC, which employs 14,000 people in 40 countries and had a 2008 budget of $8.8 billion, has since 2002 administered the DELTA program (Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancements and Leadership Through Alliances), a federal initiative that provides $6 million in annual funding to support local community coalitions that address domestic violence. The program is active in 14 states, including California, Florida and New York.
