Oakland Police Have Seized Gun Used to Kill Two Men Near Bakery Linked to Chauncey Bailey Slaying

Police investigating the murder of journalist Chauncey Bailey in Oakland, Calif., have said they seized the weapon that was allegedly used in two random murders that were committed last year near Your Black Muslim Bakery, the business that has been linked to Bailey’s slaying. The weapon, an AK-47 assault rifle, was taken during a police raid on the bakery the day after Bailey was gunned down.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, police say the weapon was used to kill Odell Roberson Jr. and Michael John Wills, Jr. last year. Officers told the paper they believe that Wills and Roberson were slain as part of a plot to “cleanse” the neighborhood around the bakery. The chief executive officer and three employees of the business are being held for a series of crimes, and one of them has been charged with Bailey’s murder.
