Michelle Pulsifer was 3 when she went missing from her mom’s Huntington Beach, Calif., home 35 years ago. And nobody noticed. The blond tyke was living with her mom, her mom’s boyfriend and her 6-year-old brother July 1969 when she vanished. Soon after, the family suddenly moved to Illinois. No one filed a missing-person report. For more than three decades, Michelle was missing.

Last week, cold case investigators knocked on the door of Donna Pulsifer Prentice’s La Crosse, Wis., home and took her into custody on an arrest warrant charging her with the murder of her daughter in 1969. The investigators also arrested Michael Kent, 62, Prentice’s former boyfriend, on the same charge when he made a court appearance in Mundelien, Ill., for driving with a suspended license. Prosecutors concluded that the girl was killed by her mother and the boyfriend, and that they moved so no one would notice that she was missing, reports the Orange County Register. Investigators do not know exactly how Michelle died or where or how her body was disposed of.
