The Washington State Supreme Court has limited what police may ask of passengers in a car they pull over, the Seattle Times reports.
The Supreme Court ruled that when police officers pull over a driver, they may not ask for identification from passengers unless they suspect the passenger has committed a crime, or if they have another legitimate reason to do so – for example, if a passenger is a witness to a crime.
