Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge and Attorney General John Ashcroft are expected to depart their jobs if George Bush wins a second term in the White House, says U.S. News & World Report. The magazine, quoting unidentified sources, gives two reasons for the likely resignations: Burnout from fighting the war on terror and low government pay.
The magazine also reprots that Ashcroft likes to take in baseball games during his current tour to defend the USA Patriot Act. At a Detroit Tigers game last month, he met Hall of Famer Al Kaline. “He was like, `Wow, Mr. Kaline,’ ” said an aide.
