Two Seattle high school students were arrested Wednesday night in the killing of a 16-year-old classmate.
Authorities said a rape allegation filed by a girlfriend of one of the suspects against the slain student may have been a motive, even though the accusation was later dropped, according to the Seattle Times.
All three boys, who were going to be juniors this fall, played together on the varsity football team and were apparently good friends.
The two suspects, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old, were in custody at the Snohomish County Jail on $500,000 bail each. The Times withheld their names because they had not been charged.
They are accused of luring John Daniel Jasmer from his home and killing him with hammer blows, stabbing and suffocation, then burying him in a wooded gravesite they had dug for the purpose.
