Some cutting-edge transportation experts are making a case that traffic congestion is indicative of a robust economy and social scene, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Congestion, these experts say, is merely a queue of citizens lining up to pursue activities with economic or social value–not unlike a line at a movie theater.

“Congestion is a sign that a lot of good things are happening,” said Brian Taylor, director of UCLA’s Institute of Transportation Studies.

The Times adds: Tell that to a commuter.
