A new Utah law that relaxes restrictions on carrying concealed weapons will allow some adults to legally carry guns into school.

Supporters assert that allowing teachers, janitors and other staffers to carry such weapons will add to school security and may deter Columbine-like tragedies.

Opponents say it’s just as likely that letting untrained persons carry guns in schools will lead to accidents or the theft of weapons.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, the law worries law enforcers and has left school administrators scrambling to figure out how to deal with it legally and politically before school starts in September.
