The Orange County district attorney has written a letter to news organizations suggesting the Los Angeles Times is trying to force the prosecutor to reveal what stories its competitors are working on.
A spokeswoman for the Times responds that the D.A. is misrepresenting a request the paper has made for equal access to ordinary press releases, according to an account in the Times.
The ongoing dispute springs from a decision by the D.A. last year to cut off information to the Times. The latest twist is related to FOIA requests made by the newspaper.
